Residential & Domestic Electricians

Residential & Domestic Electricians

DH4 Electrical are specialists in all aspects of domestics installations in and around your home. What is a domestic electrician and what do they do?

Domestic electricians work on residential properties with a main incoming supply not exceeding 100amps, which is pretty much every house, flat or bungalow in the UK. Working to current guidelines and regulations and as part of a competent person scheme (NICEIC) a Domestic Installer will conduct the work in accordance with the appropriate safety requirements, so you can rest assured your work is safe and no one is going to get injured.

Domestic Electricians are used to working in houses and work under Part P of the building regulations which governs what can and cannot be done in a property and limits any structural damage to the property. As we are so used to working in all manner of houses from new builds to Grade 2 listed properties we understand how to carry out the work with the minimal mess and with efficiency, leaving you to get on with your day and without gaping holes in your walls and lots of mess to clean up afterwards.

DH4 Electrical have been providing high quality affordable installation for many years now: examples include:

  • Changing of light fittings
  • Installing Ring doorbells
  • Downlights (indoors)
  • Downlights (outdoors in soffits and fascias)
  • Adding additional sockets for TV,s
  • Outdoor sockets
  • 32 Amp hot tub supplies
  • Power to outbuildings
  • Garden lighting

Why use a domestic electrician and not a handyman who will be cheaper? There is a saying in  the trade “Pay peanuts and get monkeys''. For starters a Domestic Installer has to undergo annual inspections from the NICEIC or other CPS (competent person scheme) to guarantee that they are working to very stringent regulations to ensure your safety. To join a CPS you also have to have the correct qualifications and most importantly the correct insurances to carry out the work. Whilst there may be cheaper tradesman out there who can “bodge” the job, you are paying for the professionalism of the individual and his skill. They will also test the installation to ensure the work is actually safe to carry out, for example they will check to see if the socket circuit has RCD protection before adding sockets, if not they will have to adapt the circuit increasing its safety in the process. Remember just because something works does not mean it's safe.
